Chapter History
The Ruth Brewster chapter was organized on March 11, 1911. The Chapter was named for Ruth Brewster Adgate, a great granddaughter of Elder William Brewster, of Mayflower fame, and the mother of Revolutionary patriot, Matthew Adgate, in 1692. She was born in 1671 in Norwich, Connecticut, and died in 1734. She married Deacon Thomas Adgate in 1692. The couple had six daughters and two sons.
